Jie Chi

I am a machine learning researcher at Apple MLR in Copenhagen. My research focuses on speech and language processing, with particular interests in multilingual automatic speech recognition, code-switching, prosody, and spoken language understanding. I completed my PhD at the University of Edinburgh as part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Natural Language Processing, supervised by Peter Bell and co-supervised by Catherine Lai.

10 October 2025:
We are hiring a PhD intern focused on speech-related research.
20 August 2025:
My Paper submitted to EMNLP has been accepted to Main, and I will be attending it in person!
17 - 21 Auguest 2025:
I will be attending InterSpeech in Rotterdam.
04 August 2025:
I officially joined Apple MLR as a full-time employee.
22 January 2025:
My paper submitted to NAACL has been accepted to Findings, and I will be attending it in person!
17 January 2025:
I just passed my viva with minor corrections!
01 January 2025:
I am joining the Technical University of Denmark as a postdoc, and I will also be working part-time at Apple MLR.
01 September 2024:
I just submitted my PhD thesis! Now I am waiting for my viva.
04 June 2024:
My paper submitted to Interspeech has been accepted and nominated for Best Student Paper! (Though it didn’t win.)
